Venkat Makke Foundation (VMF) is the dream come true of its founder Venkata Appa Rao Makke. This is part of his ‘give back’ initiative started long ago as a trickle, and now rose to become vibrant and moving force to further any philanthropic cause. The ‘give back’ initiative is not a new one. However, VMF stands tall by delivering help and support with the commitment, dedication and responsiveness as never before.
Working alone for some time and later collaborating with fellow philanthropists, Venkata Appa Rao Makke has brought a new wave of thinking and approach to social service in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Importantly, during the COVID-19 lockdown in his native town of Guntur, he was moved by the plight of daily wage laborers who were seen desperately waiting for food and water for days.
What really sensitized Venkata Appa Rao Makke was the plight of laborers who were visiting door to door for help, and the resident’s callous attitude to shut doors. This was partly due to fear of COVID-19, and also due to the lockdown. The rather pathetic and pitiable condition of the daily wagers and laborers created a strong determination in VenkataAppaRao Makke to create his Foundation. VMF is the first of its kind social platform that addresses the immediate needs of the needy and distressed. This Foundation is also one of the first social service organization started by an IT employee, who runs it with his own resources. Venkata Appa Rao Makke is ready to collaborate with any social support institution, if only there are no strings attached, and together they work for the same cause.

Many people have been facing hardships due to no work, no food grains and other essentials. With the suggestion of our beloved leader and Former Assembly Speaker Mr. Nadendla Manohar 22 varieties of essential products were distributed to 250 households of Erukalapudi village of Tenali mandal. We are thankful to Venkat Appa Rao and his brother Venkata Hanumantha Rao for making this possible
With the outbreak of COVID-19, Venkata Appa Rao, native of Guntur and now residing in Hyderabad has been donating sanitizers to Guntur Municipality. His dedication and commitment to extend support to the municipality and people of Guntur is highly commendable and appreciable. Due to lockdown the daily wage laborers have been badly affected. Venkata Appa Rao' charitable trust has come to their rescue, and has been distributing rice and other essential items to each poor household.
We have distributed rice and essential items to photographers, orchestra artists, private school teachers and priests in Guntur. This will be of great help to all these professionals who have had no work or earning for the last three months due to lockdown. Even the government should understand the plight of these professionals and extend the needful support. On behalf of photographers and others I thank Venkata Appa Rao and will be indebted to him for the timely help and support
